One of Iceland’s oldest traditions is the réttir, an annual sheep roundup in September. Sheep are corralled and herded in for the winter after a summer spent free, roaming the mountains. The work, mostly on horseback, is strenuous and potentially hazardous in the rocky terrains. But the day’s efforts are rewarded with celebrations at night, where every part of the sheep is honored and acknowledged.

*Please note that all sheep are different! Therefore each rug has subtle differences in size, shape and color. Feel free to reach out for alternative photos + info.
